Belinda glided to goal by learning to ice skate!

Belinda had always wanted to learn to ice skate, but had never realised her dream. She thought she was too overweight to be able to pirouette on ice. In August 2008, after seeing some holiday footage of herself on a pedalo, she decided it was time to take charge of her weight situation and joined Weight Watchers Online. And the rest is history! Her lifestyle changed and her activity levels increased, making getting fit her focus...

“I signed up to an ice skating class, something I had always wanted to do, and the activity POINTS® values were a real incentive! I needed to exercise but wanted to do something that I could get excited about and this was the answer. I learnt to ice skate to a reasonable standard – I can do some clever things like skating backwards!” says Belinda.


Tracking to Success

When first joining Weight Watchers, Belinda attended several meetings but slowly she found she was most comfortable using the online programme. Tracking her weight regularly was key to her progress, a tool she felt made her think about what she was eating and how much of it.

“I used the Weight Tracker and POINTS Tracker tools religiously, and felt very motivated seeing my week-on-week weight loss,” she says.

Her eating habits also changed whilst losing weight, namely in her portion control: “I used to eat a heaped bowl of cereal or pasta. Glasses of wine were always large and my portions were as large as my husband’s. I now realise I don’t need to eat so much to feel comfortably content.”



Building Blocks

The Recipe Builder was another fabulous tool that Belinda fell in love with as she loves to cook. This helped her adapt her favourite recipes, resulting in lower POINTS value alternatives.

“I am a real foodie and like to cook and create fresh recipes. I also adapt traditional ones to reduce their POINTS values. It makes adding variety really easy!”



Looking Good and Feeling Good

Since losing weight Belinda’s quality of life has changed dramatically. Not only does she sleep better, but she has stopped getting colds and her skin looks radiant.

Moreover, the people around her are complementary and supportive, which has boosted her confidence. “I feel so much happier… I still get loads of compliments when I bump into people I haven’t seen for ages. I have started wearing clothes I like and not just what I can fit into!”

And she has glided her way to goal by learning to ice skate – something she had always wanted to do.
